Flemming Christensen

Founder & Managing Director

I founded Beaconplus in 1998 after eleven years with Accenture (formerly Andersen Consulting), where I specialised in developing and implementing cost saving strategies including outsourcing for major organisations.  During my time with Accenture, I worked within the telecommunications & utilities sectors, the retail sector and Central Government, for clients such as British Telecom, Cable & Wireless, British Gas, Norweb, North West Water (now United Utilities), and the Department of Social Security (DSS).  Prior to leaving Accenture, I worked on a major outsourcing project for the Sears Retail Group, which, at the time, included Selfridges, Miss Selfridge, Adams Children’s Wear, British Shoe Corporation subsidiaries and Sears Property.

I hold an Msc in Engineering from the Technical University of Denmark and a BCom from the Copenhagen Business School.  I am an active sports person with a keen interest in running, rowing, football, badminton, windsurfing and most recently golf, which I find most challenging and frustrating.

Lee Robinson – Director

Business Development

As part of my University course in 2002, I did a 12 months’ work placement at Beaconplus, which was an invaluable experience.  I returned to the company after completing my Business Management and Entrepreneurship course at Staffordshire University, and I have worked in all of the different areas of the business since 2002.  I enjoy working in such a dedicated and professional team, which has grown and developed over the years.  I am very passionate about growing the business and providing excellent customer service to all clients.

Away from the office, I enjoy playing and watching football, rugby league, visiting the cinema, and have recently become a parent for a second time, which is certainly keeping me very busy!

Andy Hurst – Director

Energy & Business Development

Following my graduation from Leeds Metropolitan University, I joined Beaconplus in 2005 and over the years, I have worked in each of the main areas of the business.  I am currently the Manager of the energy team, as well as a member of the sales and recruitment teams.  We have always had a friendly working atmosphere and pride ourselves on a ‘Customer Comes First’ attitude.

In my spare time, I manage Poynton Football Team and play snooker and golf (fair weather summer golf only!).

Matthew Rogers – Director

I joined Beaconplus in 2001 after graduating from John Moores University (Liverpool), where I studied Accounting and Finance.  I have worked in all of the areas of the business, and have seen first-hand how the industries and technologies have changed and how our clients can benefit from this.

I am a big football fan and regularly attend games.

Darren Simmons – Senior Manager

I started working at Beaconplus in 2009 and I am the manager of our telecommunications team.  The telecoms market has continually grown and changed with new technologies, which has meant I have consistently been learning throughout my career.  I enjoy the challenges of running a very busy team and keeping ahead of market changes, by regularly attending industry events.

I enjoy spending my spare time with my two children and playing/watching both football and cricket, as much as I can.

Matthew Doherty – Consultant

Energy Tendering

I started working at Beaconplus in 2010 and have worked predominately in the energy team.  I run our energy tendering team and find that every day is different.  I pride myself on a high level of customer satisfaction, which I originally inherited from working face-to-face with customers in the retail sector.

In my spare time, I enjoy renovating a house that I have bought and attempting to learn DIY skills, which sometimes fails!  I also tend to my two ever so demanding cats and love walking in the countryside.

Rebecca Lowe – Consultant

Mobile Phones

I am responsible for our mobile phone team and I am also an account manager for several of our clients.  I additionally have an abundance of experience in the telecoms industry, having previously worked in this area before moving to different sections of the business.

Outside of work, I regularly enjoy travelling, sightseeing, going to the cinema and horse riding.  I also spend a lot of time assisting on our family run farm, where hard work is never in short supply.

Liz Hamer – Consultant

Energy & Water

I joined Beaconplus in 2006 and have worked extensively in both the telecoms, energy and water sections of the business.  I achieved a BSc in Geology from Durham University (and later a MSc in Earth Science) and strongly believe in providing an excellent level of customer service and satisfaction, which I believe sets us apart from other companies.

I enjoy motor sports and also Strongman contests, which I regularly attend over the UK..

Janet Taylor – Company Secretary

I have worked for Beaconplus since 1998.  I have the role of Company Secretary and Office Manager, which covers a wide range of administrative responsibilities.

Outside of work, I am a keen fitness fanatic and have recently taken up golf.

David Morrilly – Analyst

Working as a telecoms analyst has allowed me to work in an ever adapting industry, that is consistently throwing up surprises.  Be it finding savings, dealing with faults or everyday queries, no two days are the same.  The best aspect of the work here is speaking to a very diverse client base, and taking on the role of account manager for a number of clients has been very satisfying.

In my spare time, I play 5-a-side football and badminton, in casual games, once a week.  I also watch wide ranging TV shows, movies and sports when at home.

Gemma Smyth – Analyst

After graduating from Keele University in Neuroscience, I now work in the ever expanding telecoms team and enjoy reviewing our clients’ requirements and costs, and ensuring that they are on the most competitive arrangements at all times.

In my spare time I enjoy visiting the cinema, playing bass and walking my three dogs.

Christopher Jones – Analyst

Since I joined the Beaconplus, I have been working in the energy section and now more recently I am part of the telecoms team.

Outside of work, I travel the length and breadth of the country to watch my favourite football team.

Rich Bolshaw – Analyst

Upon finishing college, I joined Beaconplus to work in their mobile phone and telecommunications departments.  I enjoy working in such a busy working environment and dealing with all aspects of our client’s telecommunication and mobile phone accounts/queries.

In my spare time, I enjoy going to the gym and supporting my favourite football team.

Lisa Cooke – Analyst

I joined the Telecommunications Team at Beaconplus after spending 5 years working in the television industry.  I am excited to start a new adventure at Beaconplus and transfer my skills and experience to a new role.  I spend most of my time listening to musicals, Taylor Swift and watching Netflix with my cat, Ed.

Lily Jones-Herbst – Analyst

Mobile Phones

I joined Beaconplus following my graduation from the University of Nottingham, where I studied Politics.  My time at Beaconplus has offered me invaluable experience, giving me the opportunity to immerse myself into the professional working world.  I have enjoyed my time at Beaconplus immensely, working in the mobiles team, and I am very grateful for the opportunities given to me.

Kirston Southward – Analyst

Since joining Beaconplus, I have been working on the Energy team, I get to deal with clients, answering phone calls and e-mailing them on a daily basis.  I love what this job has to offer, everyday is different.

In my spare time, I like to dance at my local dance school, keep fit going to the gym and spending time with my friends at the weekend.

Robyn Carlin – Analyst

Energy & Water

I have worked at Beaconplus since 2016 and have completed both my Level 2 and 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship.

I currently work within the Energy section of the business and I am also on the report’s team.  I am responsible for making sure all the supplier invoices are accurate and correct, before we prepare our yearly reports and invoices.  I also regularly interact with our clients to answer their questions and investigate any of their queries.  Although it can be challenging at times, it’s always fun to overcome all of the different problems that arise, plus it’s a great feeling to gain positive feedback from clients.  I have recently become part of the Water section as well, so I deal with all of our client’s water queries and arrange water contracts.

Outside of work, I spend the majority of my time cooking and trying out all different kinds of recipes.  Cooking is probably my favourite thing to do.  However, I do like going out and seeing my friends at the weekend and I love going to different restaurants and trying new foods.

Jen Delaney – Analyst
