Flemming Christensen

Founder & Managing Director

I founded Beaconplus in 1998 after eleven years with Accenture (formerly Andersen Consulting), where I specialised in developing and implementing cost saving strategies including outsourcing for major organisations.  During my time with Accenture, I worked within the telecommunications & utilities sectors, the retail sector and Central Government, for clients such as British Telecom, Cable & Wireless, British Gas, Norweb, North West Water (now United Utilities), and the Department of Social Security (DSS).  Prior to leaving Accenture, I worked on a major outsourcing project for the Sears Retail Group, which, at the time, included Selfridges, Miss Selfridge, Adams Children’s Wear, British Shoe Corporation subsidiaries and Sears Property.

I hold an Msc in Engineering from the Technical University of Denmark and a BCom from the Copenhagen Business School.  I am an active sports person with a keen interest in running, rowing, football, badminton, windsurfing and most recently golf, which I find most challenging and frustrating.

Lee Robinson – Director

Business Development

As part of my University course in 2002, I did a 12 months’ work placement at Beaconplus, which was an invaluable experience.  I returned to the company after completing my Business Management and Entrepreneurship course at Staffordshire University, and I have worked in all of the different areas of the business since 2002.  I enjoy working in such a dedicated and professional team, which has grown and developed over the years.  I am very passionate about growing the business and providing excellent customer service to all clients.

Away from the office, I enjoy playing and watching football, rugby league, visiting the cinema and have recently become a parent, which is certainly keeping me very busy!

Andy Hurst – Director

Energy & Business Development

Following my graduation from Leeds Metropolitan University, I joined Beaconplus in 2005 and over the years, I have worked in each of the main areas of the business.  I am currently the Manager of the energy team, as well as a member of the sales and recruitment teams.  We have always had a friendly working atmosphere and pride ourselves on a ‘Customer Comes First’ attitude.

In my spare time, I manage Poynton Football Team and play snooker and golf (fair weather summer golf only!).

Matthew Rogers – Director

Reporting

I joined Beaconplus in 2001 after graduating from John Moores University (Liverpool), where I studied Accounting and Finance.  I have worked in all of the areas of the business, and have seen first-hand how the industries and technologies have changed and how our clients can benefit from this.

I am a big football fan and regularly attend games.

Darren Simmons – Senior Manager

Telecommunications

I started working at Beaconplus in 2009 and I am the manager of our telecommunications team.  The telecoms market has continually grown and changed with new technologies, which has meant I have consistently been learning throughout my career.  I enjoy the challenges of running a very busy team and keeping ahead of market changes, by regularly attending industry events.

I enjoy spending my spare time with my two children Reece and Oscar, and playing/watching both football and cricket, as much as I can.

Matthew Doherty – Consultant

Energy Tendering

I started working at Beaconplus in 2010 and have worked predominately in the energy team.  I run our energy tendering team and find that every day is different.  I pride myself on a high level of customer satisfaction, which I originally inherited from working face-to-face with customers in the retail sector.

In my spare time, I enjoy renovating a house that I have bought and attempting to learn DIY skills, which sometimes fails!  I also tend to my two ever so demanding cats and love walking in the countryside.

Rebecca Lowe – Consultant

Mobile Phones

I am responsible for our mobile phone team and I am also an account manager for several of our clients.  I additionally have an abundance of experience in the telecoms industry, having previously worked in this area before moving to different sections of the business.

Outside of work, I regularly enjoy travelling, sightseeing, going to the cinema and horse riding.  I also spend a lot of time assisting on our family run farm, where hard work is never in short supply.

Liz Hamer – Consultant

Energy & Water

I joined Beaconplus in 2006 and have worked extensively in both the telecoms, energy and water sections of the business.  I achieved a BSc in Geology from Durham University (and later a MSc in Earth Science) and strongly believe in providing an excellent level of customer service and satisfaction, which I believe sets us apart from other companies.

I enjoy motor sports and also Strongman contests, which I regularly attend over the UK..

Janet Taylor – Company Secretary

I have worked for Beaconplus since 1998.  I have the role of Company Secretary and Office Manager, which covers a wide range of administrative responsibilities.

Outside of work, I am a keen fitness fanatic and have recently taken up golf.

David Morrilly – Analyst

Telecommunications

Working as a telecoms analyst has allowed me to work in an ever adapting industry, that is consistently throwing up surprises.  Be it finding savings, dealing with faults or everyday queries, no two days are the same.  The best aspect of the work here is speaking to a very diverse client base, and taking on the role of account manager for a number of clients has been very satisfying.

In my spare time, I tend to play/watch football, socialise with my friends and very recently have been going to see as many interesting new releases as I can at the cinema.  When at home, I tend to watch a very wide spectrum of TV and trying to find an opportunity to have a little gaming time on my PS4 (which unfortunately isn’t very often).

Gemma Beasley – Analyst

Telecommunications

After graduating from Keele University in Neuroscience, I now work in the ever expanding telecoms team and enjoy reviewing our clients’ requirements and costs, and ensuring that they are on the most competitive arrangements at all times.

In my spare time I enjoy visiting the cinema, playing bass and walking my three dogs.

Katie Roberts – Analyst

Telecommunications

I have recently joined the telecoms team and I regularly speak to our client’s suppliers, which can be challenging, but I enjoy resolving issues quickly and efficiently.

Outside of work, I enjoy shopping, socialising with friends and going out for dinner.  I also love looking after my cats Millie and Oscar.

Christopher Jones – Analyst

Telecommunications

Since I joined the Beaconplus, I have been working in the energy section and now more recently I am part of the telecoms team.

Outside of work, I travel the length and breadth of the country to watch my favourite football team.

Rich Bolshaw – Analyst

Telecommunications

Upon finishing college, I joined Beaconplus to work in their mobile phone and telecommunications departments.  I enjoy working in such a busy working environment and dealing with all aspects of our client’s telecommunication and mobile phone accounts/queries.

In my spare time, I enjoy walking my dog (a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel), going to the gym and supporting my favourite football team.

Lily Jones-Herbst – Analyst

Mobile Phones

I joined Beaconplus following my graduation from the University of Nottingham, where I studied Politics.  My time at Beaconplus has offered me invaluable experience, giving me the opportunity to immerse myself into the professional working world.  I have enjoyed my time at Beaconplus immensely, working in the mobiles team, and I am very grateful for the opportunities given to me.

Courtney Trevett – Analyst

Mobile Phones

I have recently joined the mobile phone team at Beaconplus, following my graduation from Edge Hill University last summer.  I love that the role of an Analyst is extremely diverse and that Beaconplus is a company that cares a great deal for its customers.  Additionally, I am excited to be part of such a great team with a company that is continually growing and developing.

In my spare time, I enjoy cycling, visiting new places and spending time with my friends.  Lastly, I am passionate about dancing, singing and acting, and have recently taken part in a production of Legally Blonde.

Jemma Todd – Analyst

Energy

Since joining Beaconplus, I have been working on the energy team as an analyst.  I enjoy helping clients with any queries and getting these resolved.

Outside of work, I enjoy going shopping, seeing the latest films at the cinema and planning my next holiday!

Keanu Robles – Analyst

Energy

I work in the energy team and help to manage client queries and managing their utility supplies, in the most efficient way.

In my spare time, I enjoy playing basketball and socialising with friends and family.

Phoebe Barber – Analyst

Energy

I have worked in the energy section for several years and enjoy working in such a customer-orientated environment, and feel as though I am part of the Beaconplus family.

In my spare time, I enjoy riding my horse “Lady”, taking my dog on jogs and visiting the local takeaway!

Robert Parker-Mercer – Analyst

Energy

After completing my A-Levels, I joined Beaconplus, where I started my Level 2 Business Administration Apprenticeship.  I am currently part of the Energy team, where I am facing many challenges, but get a great feeling of satisfaction when they are completed.

In my spare time, I play football for my local team, where I can socialise with my friends during the week.  I also enjoying going to the gym, which gives me the opportunity to listen to lots of music!

Jen Delaney – Analyst

Energy

I have recently started working for Beaconplus on the energy section, and I get to deal with clients and their utility invoices on a day-to-day basis.  I love what the business has to offer, and I am more than happy that I have been given this opportunity to have this experience.

Outside of work, I like to go the gym and read, and catch up with my friends on the weekends.  I also love buying makeup!

Robyn Carlin – Analyst

Energy & Water

I have worked at Beaconplus since 2016 and have recently completed my level 2 Business Administration Apprenticeship.

For the past year, I have been working within the Energy section of the business, dealing with our client’s utility invoices.  I regularly interact with our clients to answer their questions and investigate any queries they have.  Although it can be challenging at times, it’s always fun to overcome all of the different problems that arise, plus it’s a great feeling to gain positive feedback from clients.

Outside of work, I spend my time mostly in Chester with my group of friends.  I am also close to achieving a level 3 degree in Beauty and Makeup Artistry, through an online college course, as I’m hoping to become a licensed makeup artist to fill up my spare time.
