PSTN / ISTN Switch Off

Openreach PSTN / ISTN Switch Off Support

Openreach have been advertising the big ISDN and PSTN switch off for years, which is scheduled to happen in 2025.  In order to prepare for this change, we have been helping many of our clients update their services to VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) to make their business “future proof” in line with the changes.

With the events of the past 12 months, we have found that many businesses have accelerated their need for a more flexible telecommunication system (including remote working for example).  Should you have ISDN and PSTN lines currently in place, you will be able to continue using these services until 2025, but you may be restricted in making changes to your existing setup.

There will be a number of cost and service benefits from doing this and if you have any queries about your existing set-up, we would recommend calling us directly on 01565 755600 for some advice.  The changes will impact telephone systems, broadband service, fax (if still in use), point-of-sale terminals, redcare/dial-up alarm services and lift lines, for example.

In addition, we have confirmed that new telephone equipment  (including phone systems and mobile phones) would be included as part of the “Super Deductions” (130% Capital Allowances), announced in the March 2021 Government budget.  Orders have to be made between 1st April 2021 and 31st March 2023 to qualify, and only applies to companies that have limited status and pay corporation tax.  Due to the abovementioned PSTN / ISTN switch off anyway, a number of our clients are making changes to their communications earlier than planned, but we would recommend speaking to your accountants about this also.  Please contact us for more information.

PSTN / ISTN Switch OffHow We Can Help

We advise thousands of businesses across the UK (ranging from single site businesses to those with hundreds of sites) and would hope to help your business also. What sets us apart is the way we work. Our services are performance related.  This means that we share any refunds and savings realised for a predefined period, which arise as a result of recommendations that we have implemented. We act as independent advisors helping your business secure the best services and contracts.

Please contact us today on 01565 755600 or send an e-mail to mail@beaconplus.co.uk, and we will get back to you.

As we approach the 2025 deadline, there are likely to be further changes announced by Openreach and it’s an area we have a lot of experience in, over the past 20 years.
